Swadding Blankets

Over the weekend, I finished a little project I’ve been working on for awhile: swaddling blankets for 2 of my 683 pregnant friends.

I used the Purl Bee Swaddling Blankets pattern, and they were so fun to make. Aside from Al’s ill-fitting harem pants,  this was the first thing I’ve made on my sewing machine. I wanted something easy, and I figured a square would be my jam!

For Angie’s set, I used the girliest fabrics (I am so in love with that pink pattern), and decided to hand stitch the border. I wanted it to have a soft, classic feel. For Emma’s set, Jim chose a Portland bridges pattern, and the bold bird pattern (colors match their wedding colors). For this one, I decided to machine stitch a zigzag for a bit more of a modern look.

All in all, it worked! I really loved making them, and can’t wait to see those sweet babies all swaddled up.
