After having time to reflect, some of the most “didn’t go to plan” moments end up being my favorites. On Monday evening, J got home from work, and we decided to have a little date night out at Sauvie Island. We hopped into the Jeep & drove out to a farm to pick pumpkins. When we arrived, the signs on the cashier barn said closed, and they had began to close up shop. The pumpkin patch was closed, but they were nice enough to re-open the pre-picked section for us. We had this idea of adventuring around a pumpkin field to pick from the vines, and instead, had to pick from a big pile. A few laughs were had, and we picked three perfect pumpkins. We got to watch the sun set behind Forest Park, and the temperature slid quickly. The trip was short … but very sweet. J even made a joke to the cashier about me smuggling a pumpkin under my shirt. Oh man, he’s such a dad already. I get a little silly when I realize that we’ll be picking pumpkins next year with a baby in tow.
