Our Anniversababymoon

At the end of November, we celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary, and the upcoming birth of Baby Stadick. We decided to take a trip to the coast, stay in a cozy hotel, and spend our days outside … We had no idea that the weather would be absolutely beautiful, and we’d be in our t-shirts (in November). We stayed in a hotel in Lincoln City (one of our favorite beach towns). The hotel had a hot tub on the balcony, which looked out at the ocean. We spent each night in the hot tub, and all we could hear/see were the waves & the stars. It was magical. Aside from the amazing view, we weren’t really happy with the hotel room … It was a bit dirty, and for what we were paying, we were pretty disappointed. For that, I think I’ll keep the name off of here.

Our Saturday consisted of waking up early, buying our yearly Christmas ornaments at the Christmas Cottage, and breakfast at the Beach Dog Cafe. We then packed up our Jeep and headed south to Cape Perpetua. We took a little detour along the way to visit the Yaquina Head Lighthouse in Newport. I had no idea it was there, and we were even more surprised when we showed up right on time to take a tour (complete with a tour guide in period-correct clothing).

After the lighthouse, we continued south to our final destination. We stopped for a lovely lookout point, and then headed back down to finish the day with Thor’s Well. We’ve been wanting to see this beauty for YEARS, and I am so very happy we were able to see in on this trip. We both have such a strong tie to the ocean, and watching the water rise & fall in this rock formation was really amazing … It felt like we were watching the heartbeat of the earth.

We didn’t plan on staying so late, but we ended up watching the sunset from Cape Perpetua. It was so beautiful. I had a really lovely moment of clarity when I knew that the rest of this pregnancy would be just fine, and that I needed to trust in myself. It was beautiful.

The next morning, we got up & hit the road early so we could make it back to Portland for our final birth class.

Overall, the weekend was so beautiful. It was the perfect way to celebrate our love.
