Oh baby! 8 months is FUN! In your 7 month post, we wrote about chaos and transition … This month is just about you coming into your own. Baby girl, you are so positively YOU … and we’re happy to dance to the beat of your drum.
Sleep has gone from horrible to awesome. While you don’t quite sleep all the way through the night, it’s very relative. You usually go to bed around 7:30, and sleep until 2-3. We still co-sleep, so I’ll give you your pacifier, and you’ll usually fall asleep until 5:00, when you’re ready to hop into bed with us to nurse and go back to sleep. Bedtime is amazing these days. After doing gentle sleep training, you are able to go to sleep within 5 minutes (generally about 1 minute) of getting into your bed. It’s amazing how you’ve learned to soothe yourself into sleep.
Your two bottom teeth are fully in, and so, so cute! This week, you’re teething big time, and we expect to see those top teeth soon. With those teeth, you’ve learned to bite. Yikes, those teeth are sharp!
Speaking of biting, nursing has become interesting. Usually, we just nurse in the morning when we’re both laying in bed. Then, I pump the rest of the day, and you take bottles. It’s great.
Breast milk/formula isn’t your only food source these days. You love food. I don’t even know if I can remember all of the different foods you’ve tried. Basically, you eat anything we’re eating.
The best part of this month is how much you love to play. You love when papa gives you kisses, and you love screaming back and fourth with each other. You’re not so fragile anymore, and you love when we toss you in the air, or tickle you like crazy. You still aren’t a big laugher, but you will do it when you’re super excited.
You mastered sitting last month, and now you’ve perfected the army crawl. You’re so fast … we wonder if you’ll ever do a real crawl. The army crawl is working out pretty well for you. We’ve seen you pull yourself up onto your knees a few times, and we even had to lower your bed because of it. You love going towards cords, shoes, and anything else not meant for baby. You’re showing us what we need to baby proof.
You have perfected “the face” (see below). You scrunch your nose, and breathe in and out really fast. You love when people do it to you, and you’re always happy to do it back. You say “mama”, “dada”, and “baba”. One of our favorite things is that you share. You offer us your paci and your food. It’s so very sweet.
Diaper changes are insane. You are so wiggly, and determined to do anything but sit still. Even with all of our attempts to distract you, your little legs are flailing, and you’re rolling like an alligator.
I don’t want to play favorites, but this month might be my favorite so far! Keep on shining … you are such a gem! We love you!
